拡張現実の技術を使用したカード・マジックは今までも幾つか有るが、ここで紹介するシンプルできめ細かいiPadを使用した「実物の紙幣が出現する」マジックも良くできている。

ブラジルのホンダディーラーで、実施されたARを使用した展示販売。一カ月のキャンペーン期間中にタブレットを使って実際に試した顧客は約38,000人、その中の1,500人が試乗せず実物にも触れず購入を決めたという。事前にこの新車のことは知っていただろうが、素晴らしい実績だ。極端に考えると、同じことが自宅でもできるはずなので実際にディーラーに行かずとも購入が決定されるということになる。





The original strategy was implemented in Honda dealers from all over Brazil. Clients could visualize details of the car simply by directing the camera of a tablet at a “virtual carpet”, which market out the exact size of the new Fit 2015, placed on the floor of Honda showrooms. 

More than 38,000 people interacted with the new Honda Fit virtually and 1,500 bought it even before it was available in stores.

自分の顔を鏡に写しながらリアルタイムでアイシャドウなどを試すことができるアプリ。自然なメイクをARで実現することにについては、難易度が高いと言われていたがこれは完成度が高い。フランスのセフォラ(Sephora)のショップに設置されている。

中国地方の山陽印刷が、AR機能を持った「AR34」を2014年5月30日にリリースした。山陽新聞の５面を使用するなど、かなりの打ち出しを行っている。高度な画像認識認識技術をもつAR技術を採用したアプリだが、単にARという技術に留まることなく新聞との親和性、地元の学生とのコラボレーションなどを展開するようだ。

文具メーカーのぺんてるは、東京・銀座に店内のどこにでも落書きしてもいいカフェ「GINZA RAKUGAKI Cafe & Bar by Pentel」を6月2日〜7月27日にかけてオープンする。現在、内覧会を開催中とのこと。ARアプリは、コースターに色を塗ると塗ったキャラクターが動き出し、サッカーゴールにシュートを決めるというもの。アナログ的な二次元画像の選手の動きが楽しい。

自動車の模型にタブレットのカメラを向けると、立体物である模型の周りに円形の模様が展開される。これはまさしく、立体物を認識するデモビデオだ。さまざまな表現力とクオリティを持ち合わせたクアルコム社のヴューフォリアがさらなる進化をとげた。今、まさしく引き合いが増えている技術なだけにその実力に期待したい。

画像認識ARエンジンを提供するCatchoom も、Google Glass 向けのSDKの提供を開始。このビデオは、自宅にある商品の消耗品を買い足すためにGoogle Glass で画像認識してカートに追加していくというシチュエーションだが、実際にこのように利用されることはないだろう。

玩具では有名なフィッシャープライスのAR技術を使用した楽しく学べる教育玩具。iPadをオリジナルのケースに入れて立てる。画面上にキーのアイテムを置いてペンでタッチすると解除される。そして絵のカードをiPadの後ろ側に置きカメラに映ると林檎や対応する３DCGアニメーションが出現する。画面上に映ったアイテムをペンで触れると...。デジタルの世界とマジックペンを使用し、現実の操作により変化を与えられる点はとても素晴らしい。



The Create and Explore sections provide drawing programs, writing practice and simple puzzles associated with each letter. The Learn section features 26 animated characters that spawn from 13 double-sided Augmented Reality letter cards. Tap on the screen and the characters react, animating through a sequence of movements. If the cards are not available, a non-AR experience takes over, allowing users to continue to play with all content via stylus.

オスモ(Osmo) というアナログとデジタルを融合させた新しいタイプの情操教育のための玩具が発表された。iPadを専用の台に設置して、カメラの部分に赤い部品をはめ込む。この設定でカメラは手元の部分を認識するようになる。

画面に表示される動物の絵の通りに手元の幾つかのカードで組み立てる。形が一致すると当たりとなる。また、文字も同様に画面に表示された文字と同じ状態になると当りとなる。ここまではある程度想像できる範囲だ(それでも良くできている)。次に用紙の上にペンで線を引くと、その状態がiPadの画面にも反映される。すると、その線が物理的な障害物となり、上から落ちてくる玉の流れを変えていく。ハードウェアとしてはいたってシンプル。要はソフトウェア部分。現実に起きている変化が画面上に反映されるように設計されている点が素晴らしい。全てがバーチャル世界ではないデジタル機器の利用方法は、今後もどんどん増えていくべきであろう。

2014年6月22日までに注文すると50%オフとのこと。配送料含めて57ドルで購入できるようだ。

ニューヨークの地下鉄の状態を可視化するスマートフォンアプリ「トンネルヴィジョン」。地下鉄のホームの路線図にiPhoneのカメラを向けると、地下鉄の路線図上にMTAデータなど様々な情報を可視化する。



There’s a plethora of apps that give New York City’s subway riders route information.

These apps help commuters with many aspects of using the MTA, from route planning to nearby stops. Tunnel Vision goes beyond this scope through data visualization and augmented reality. When users point their smartphone cameras at images of the transit map, the app overlays information about the city via data pulled from the MTA and the U.S. Census.

Much like other apps, Tunnel Vision provides much information about the subway itself, including the official schedule, turnstile activity at each stop, and an estimate of how many people are currently using the metro. It’s a real life version of the Marauders’ Map, as dots representing the cars move along the lines.
