The Companion 2015 is a future scenario for an Augmented Reality environment which improves a variety of procedures for travelers at modern traffic-knots like airports or train stations. The Companion 2015 guides the user with fast and fluent Augmented Reality navigation through check-in and departure-areas. Personal data can be transferred with the dragn'n'drop-gesture from the personal device onto public devices or ticketing stations. It speeds up check-in procedures and introduces a paperless check-in and boarding process. There are no more luggage-tags needed, instead the system uses RFID-technology to identify your bag.
Technological basis
The Companion 2015 is based on technologies which are available today. These technological environments such as Augmented Reality, WiFi-Communication and RFID-identification do not work fast and stable enough nowadays. Our scenario predicts that they will be used widely in the society in the next 5 -- 10 years. These technologies will interact seamlessly, thus allowing the user to focus on his traveling experience and not wasting time with manually entering travel details.
