“COMIT’s mission is to promote the use of mobile technology within the UK construction industry by spreading best practice, promoting new developments and facilitating understanding between technology providers and construction companies.”KOREC were originally invited to participate in a COMIT project to investigate whether Augmented Reality can be of use in a construction environment, another member of COMIT invited us to join the team after we carried out a survey of the M1 Improvement project using the Trimble MX8 Mobile Scanner. The project is broken up into 3 phases. The first is to look at current technology and data on a live construction site, so that we can define the shortfalls within hardware, software and techniques. The second phase is to carry out research and development with an aim to solving the issue surrounding accurate real time locations and data guides. The final phase is to deploy a solution in a real world environment.
