Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (CSE) is in the process of retrofitting a 100 year old historic building in Boston, Massachusetts and turning it into a living laboratory; recording data from all of the systems installed throughout the building, showcasing the latest clean energy technologies, and becoming their new laboratory headquarters.
Within this building, they will be creating an Interactive Lobby Showcase which will include the use of exciting, cutting edge technologies including: hand gesturing recognition cameras, eye tracking software, 3-D televisions without glasses, visible light communication, and Augmented Reality. We are planning to use these technologies as both an attraction piece, as well as a teaching instrument to educate people about sustainable energy systems.
My team is in charge of the Augmented Reality exhibit. We are attempting to bring AR to a level is has yet to achieve, by tying in the real-time building data with the AR visuals. This is what we have created so far. These are just concept models, and still have a lot of work to be done.
