(via YouTube by InsightMediaTV1)Sharp Electronics showed their full lines of 60-90" digital signage displays, which we have covered before. New at the event was a virtual clothes modeling application that is essentially an augmented reality application that allows consumers to try on clothing in front of a large mirror/display. Using a camera-based system and chromakey technology. the consumer can interactively change the color of the garment they are trying on in front of the mirror/display. In this way, the merchandizer only needs to stock a range of sizes for the garment - not a range of colors. Once the consumer likes the color they like, it can be ordered on line. The solution is already in use in a store (Uniqlo) in New York.
