The (re-)Mapping Moby Project is a creative and critical applied research experiment exploring affective embodiment and tracing its expressive potential in contemporary mixed media/mixed reality experience.
The research brings a classic literary text (Herman Melville's 1851 Moby-Dick) in conversation with contemporary digital mapping and mixed reality media technologies. Using the literary text as an inspirational base text, we are exploring ways to re-map the novel onto a collaboratively-constructed dynamic map interface that allows users to navigate experiences inspired by the text and to perform these narrative negotiations with an attention to new material reading and writing practices.

Readers of Jackie magazine will find a nice addition to one of the magazine's interviews in the current issue on newsstands today.
Dutch fashion designer Joline Jolink is profiled by Jackie in the magazine's Style Files section, and she managed to include Layar alongside her interview. In her own words, here's Joline's take on how this collaboration came together.
"The magazine contacted me for the style page. I was immediately thrilled about the possibilities to use Layar on my images in magazines. They will make the step so much easier for women to explore my online store after seeing a publication," she says.
"So, when Jackie asked for text and images, I offered them a picture of one of my favourite looks with the Layar logo in the corner."
The image Joline provided shows off her "summer must-have look," and has been enhanced with Layar. Scanning the image shows a few simple buttons: one to Tweet about the look and another which links to Joline's online shop to buy the items. It's a really simple implementation, but it's very effective for bringing readers of Jackie directly to a place where they can buy the items.

The third part of Magnum Pleasure Hunt has been launched and this time it's in Amsterdam. While the other versions have been virtual games, the Dutch version takes it a bit further and brings AR into the live game.
In the previous versions, the game has been about collecting bon bons in a virtual environment, but this time, 150 chocolate bonbons have been spread across the 9 straatjes of Amsterdam, and the only way to play the game is to download the augmented reality app and go out and find them.

The app allows the user to view and experience the vehicle as if it was on site :

Gamar is a mobile games design company presenting a prototype for an interactive, educational story game in augmented reality for the British Museum. The purpose of the game is an immersive, bodily, playful and fun approach to the museum's collection with its historical and anthropological content. While the user is hunting persian ghosts or collecting organs of the dead pharaoh in order to bring him back to life, all mini games form a part of an educational narrative that will make museum visits and history an engaging and true personal experience!
