The UK’s largest supermarket chain has started a trial of augmented reality technology in its stores, aiming to bring certain products to life and save on shelf space. From today shoppers will be able to hold a Tesco Direct catalogue or a product key up to webcams in the supermarket aisles, and generate life-size 3D projections of products to learn about their specifications before making a purchase.
This was just a thought that we will have 3D Projector Glasses in the near future. In the present we use our iphones or phones to play games, in the near future we will have iphones or phones that have hologram technology that can create a realistic environment where we can have fun, play and work with. we propose a planar target tracking method that exploits a barcode containing information about the target.
Our method combines both barcode detection and natural feature tracking methods to track a planar object efficiently on mobile devices.
A planar target is detected by recognizing the barcode located near the target, and the target's keypoints are tracked in video sequences.
We embed the information related to a planar object into the barcode, and the information is used to limit image regions to perform keypoint matching between consecutive frames.
We show how to detect a barcode robustly and what information is embedded for efficient tracking.
Our detection method runs at 30 fps on modern mobile devices, and it can be used for mobile augmented reality applications using planar targets.

(via YouTube by GISTcti )In this paper, we evaluate a path editing method using a tangible user interface to generate and manipulate the movement path of a 3D object in an Augmented Reality (AR) scene. To generate the movement path, each translation point of a real 3D manipulation prop is examined to determine which point should be used as a control point for the path. Interpolation using splines is then used to reconstruct the path with a smooth line. A dynamic score-based selection method is also used to effectively select small and dense control points of the path. In an experimental evaluation, our method took the same time and generated a similar amount of errors as a more traditional approach, however the number of control points needed was significantly reduced. For control manipulation, the task completion time was quicker and there was less hand movement needed. Our method can be applied to drawing or curve editing methods in AR educational, gaming, and simulation applications.
