    iOnRoad™ is an Augmented reality App the uses smart phone cameras and sensors, to increase drivers safety. It uses real time machine vision algorithms, to create visual radar which identifies the lane in which one is driving and the objects in front. Time gap and the risk to collision are calculated for the vehicles in front, in order to warn the appropriate time. All of that- using just a smartphone!

    The App runs in two modes. The first is an augmented reality mode, in which it shows real time information of the objects captured by the camera. The second mode is background mode, in which one can run any other app in the front such as Navigation app. iOnRoad™ runs in the background, and jumps to the front only if a warning needs to be displayed. 

    The app can auto-load when one turns on his phone. Nevertheless, it will remain inactive, until it identifies one has started driving and the phone is mounted on its car holder. It will become inactive once un-mounted.

    iOnRoad turns the smartphone from a growing source of distracted driving to the ultimate yet elegant solution for safe driving!

    I'm trying to make Augmented Reality Gaming Controls for a Space-flying game. The game itself is made in Unity, Web cam capture happens in Silverlight and the variables are passed to Unity via JavaScript.

    When scenery is projected with the camera of a smart phone, the building that existed there in the past is displayed by overlay. 



    Visualize the Past is an interactive, mobile experience aimed to help the average person visualize historical sites that no longer exist. For the purpose of demonstration, the Jayne Building will be the focus of the project, which stood at 3rd and Chestnut Street and is considered to be the first skyscraper in Philadelphia. Using a mobile device equipped for augmented reality, users will be able to see a three dimensional model of the Jayne Building projected in the spot where it once stood.     For anyone that was following the Teachmeet Aberdeen on Wednesday 11th May (#tmabdn), here is my presentation on using Augmented Reality app Junaio to share children's work.

    main points were:
    -There is a wide network of people including other pupils, teachers and family taking an interest in children's learning and progress. We are no longer confined to displaying children's achievements in a closed classroom or school foyer.
    -Educators have embraced the internet to motivate and reward children whilst teaching them about audiences. Take @deputymitchell's blogging work and it's affect on his pupils.
    -Mobile technology is growing and becoming much more accessible to pupils and parents. Inclusion issues will soon become comparable to that of internet access.
    -Augmented reality overlays digital 'magic' onto real life via cameras.
    -This kind of magic has already been used by 2simple's 2animate programme. See youtube video.

    カナダのクイーンズ大学でRCVLabは、プールの科学教育のための拡張現実感システム ARPoolを開発

    The RCVLab at Queen’s University in Canada has found a way to turn the game of pool into a more precise and technological game. The students at Queen’s University have developed an augmented reality system called ARPool, which uses AG technology to assist shot planning and execution in a game of billiards. ARPool employs a range of cameras and sensors in order to calculate where the individual balls will go to when the cue ball is struck. The system can also display on the table where each ball will go in real-time directly on the surface of the table using 2D graphics.

    それぞれのカードでワードが表示される。そして、2種類のカードを並べることで、1つの言葉になり、キャラクターが表示される。言葉の学習用に使用する拡張現実の教材だ。

    The word is displayed with each card. And, it becomes one word by displaying two kinds of cards, and the character is displayed. It is a teaching material of the Augmented reality used for the study of the word.

    音声を変換する機能で、音声を文字情報に変換する機能を提供。将来的に何ヶ国かの言語に対応する予定とのこと。

     

    iHear Network has developed an Android app that converts tweets to speech. The company, founded by Matt Fitzsimmons, Matthew Markus and Geoff Simons in February 2011, offers a free Android app that allows you to hear geotagged tweets (tweets that have been geographically identified or sorted) that have been converted to speech. Users can choose a city, state or country and hear what people are saying in that community in real time.

    Fitzsimmons said the app has already been downloaded 10,000 times and the next release will include real-time chat capabilities, more location-based sources and photos. (An iPhone version is also in the works.) The company was one of six startups to present at the MIT Enterprise Forum of the Northwest’s Spring Northwest Startup DEMO last night.

    Pioneer, a Japanese car accessory and entertainment systems manufacturer, has incorporated augmented reality (AR) into its latest in-dash car GPS navigation system.

    Highlight of the AVIC-VH09CS GPS system is the AR Scouter mode, which enables augmented reality in the device, superimposing additional information on the live street view visible through the seven-inch LCD screen. Using a camera mounted on the car’s windshield, the AVIC-VH09CS can display footage of what’s in front of the car and places arrows on the road itself. The system identifies other cars, traffic lights, streets, shops, and landmarks on the streaming video and layers the sat-nav information over the image.

    metaioは、are2011にて会場をナビゲートするARアプリケーションを提供する。緯度、経度、高度のデータを制御出来る LLAマーカーを配置するようだ。一般的にARナビゲーションはGPSやWifiを使用するが、GPSはまだ十分に室内のナビゲーションを正確に制御することは出来ない。metaioの技術(LLA)は、シームレスに屋内の位置情報を把握することが出来るとのことだ。
