Layar, Mobilizy, Wikitude -- 何れも世界的に有名になりつつある位置情報系のAR系サービス。
Layarが優勢かと思いきや、まだまだ勝者は分からないようだ!

Mobilizy, the Austrian based company behind Wikitude, one of the leading Augmented Reality browsers in Europe and a direct competitor to well-known Layar from the Netherlands, has just raised an undisclosed round of funding from Austrian VC Gamma Capital Partners and tecnet Capital as a co-Investor.
Layar, which has raised a significant amount in early 2010, is expanding rapidly and is on its way to becoming the predominant player in AR in Europe. Yet Wikitude’s navigational browser has gained significant traction throughout the few last months. According to a recent survey by ARCchart, revenues generated from mobile phone Augmented Reality apps will reach $2,2 billion by 2015 – an impressive number and an indicator that there’s lots of room for startups in this space.

...By lifting up an iPhone or Android phone at certain points throughout the city, people will be able to see the monsters on their screens. This is made possible by 'augmented reality'. If information has been programmed to a certain point on the map, a phone user will see moving graphics or messages on their device when they are there.
Gary Lovatt, from Manchester-based Gencia, said: “Augmented reality is a view of the virtual world on the physical world.“This is an opportunity to engage and capture the imagination of people throughout the city.
“It's an exciting project, and we wanted Manchester to experience it first.”
People spying the spirits are being advised to slay them by clicking on their phone screens – after posing for photographs. There will be prizes, such as cinema tickets and dinner for two, for the most creative pictures or for the most monsters found.Manchester will host the ghouls until November.

PaperCamp is all about, well, paper. As the PaperCamp 1 wiki says,
“whether that’s looking at material possibilities of paper itself, connecting paper to the internet and vice-versa with things like 2d-barcodes, RFIDs or exotic things like printing with conductive inks… it’s about the fact that paper hasn’t gone away in the digital age – it’s become more useful, more abundant and in some cases gone and got itself bionic superpowers.”
Roo and Ben have done a couple of lovely write-ups. As Ben said, “Stuff is happening at the moment that I feel we’ll look back upon and enjoy saying, I was there. Papercamp was one of those.”
Anyway, I rambled a bit about some things, and gave everyone a few behind-the-scenes glimpses of some ideas we’ve had around paper over the last few months at BERG, so I thought I’d share a few slides here. But first, here’s some stuff we like.
