米バージニア州立大学にて、AR(拡張現実)技術を利用した「ゴキブリ恐怖症」克服トレーニングの実験が行われた。
この実験は、ゴキブリ恐怖症の被験者にARマーカーを認識するヘッドマウントディスプレイ(HMD)をかぶってもらい、マーカーの上に表示される動くゴキブリの3DCGを見てもらうというもの。最初は一匹から始め、徐々にARマーカーを増やしてHMDに表示されるゴキブリの数も増やしていき恐怖を克服していく。尚、ARシステムはスペインの研究者が開発した。
