Could augmented reality make work easier? Trials are underway in a mock-up factory in Munich, Germany to see how augmented reality could help workers in their daily tasks. Using a combination of Google Glass and software, workers can see where items need to be collected or stored without looking at a clipboard, while service mangers can be provided with step by step instructions on how to fix broken equipment. But some are concerned the technology may downgrade workers' roles and conditions.(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0SGqitDZO8Q&feature=youtube_gdata)

Virtual reality has become famous for its applications in video games. Now virtual reality is being used to help the armoured vehicle drivers, as driving an armoured vehicle is really hard job when inside the hatch. The technology is being adopted by the Norwegian military and contains an Oculus Rift headset. Now, soldiers no longer require to keep their heads above the hatches. Actually a number of cameras are attached with the vehicle that capture the video of the surrounding and send it to the headset. This idea makes the vehicle virtually transparent. The experimental verification of the system has been accomplished in Norway.(via http://www.technocrazed.com/oculus-rift-headsets-make-the-armoured-vehicle-transparent-for-driver)

Epson might be known for its printers, but as of today it has joined the club of companies selling a pair of smart glasses. The company is now accepting orders for its Moverio BT-200 glasses, which retail for $700.
The glasses, which are better suited to business applications than individuals, project a screen in front of the wearer’s eyes that Epson said is equivalent to an 80-inch TV. Virtual images can be displayed among the real objects in the wearer’s field of view.

We have developed the AR Bullet Train App to give a virtual experience to governments/policy makers, investors and the general public. We present the technical details in a way which clearly shows what the end result will look like. This is important for approvals of feasibility studies and detailed designs. It allows the users to experience the product before it is delivered. The AR Bullet Train app combines the power of augmented reality with highly accurate 3d models. We also incorporate gyroscope, video, and interactive tools to provide a complete virtual experience.(via https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKqMcuoOZl33q5y2BnWN11g)

At The University of Tampa, the yearbook isn't dead. It's actually in full, augmented three-dimensions. When students scan certain pages of the printed yearbook, the Moroccan, the book jumps to life with videos, photo slideshows and links to online content that appear on their mobile device. The technology, accessed via a mobile app called Yearbook 3D, is called augmented reality, which basically offers a view of the real-world environment augmented by a computer. The technology is similar to QR codes, but more advanced and user-friendly.(via https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZZu0AruVwMg)

Phobious comes to Baltimore by way of Barcelona. In addition to the consumer-facing tool, a clinician-facing track is under development. The consumer-facing platform will concentrate on phobias from insects and public speaking to needles. The company plans to market it without any guarantees of its effectiveness in curing these phobias. But it also plans to seek FDA clearance and a CE Mark from European regulators to use the device for treating post traumatic stress disorder and anxiety disorders.
