AR4CAD is a research project at T3LAB, where AR technology is investigated for industrial applications: in particular, it has been applied to improve assembly works.
The operator is guided by multi-media instructions (text, audio, animations, movies, ...) and virtual objects that are displayed where the corresponding real object should be mounted. Currently the operator sees the augmented view in a monitor. Interactions between the operator and the AR system are mostly voice based.
(via YouTube by Christina Dicke)This is a quick hack for an augmented reality guide. The idea was to create an immersive experience based on the story of Sisi (or rather her ghost). The user becomes a ghostbuster and has to collect items for Sisi's gost. The items are scattered all over Vienna and can be detected with a special (gadget) device (like all serious ghostbusters own). When the user enters the "hot zone" and comes close to one of the items, the local audio theme starts playing. Sound themes are atmospheric and set the mood for the next encounter with Sisi's gost and/or the nearby item.
The docu is a bit trashy as we had only three days for designing, coding, implementing, video shooting, editing, and ... having discussions with the makeup artist.

HANOVER, Germany--IBM showed off technology today designed to let people use their smartphones to take command of their real-world shopping.
Big Blue showed an app idea from IBM Research in Haifa, Israel, that uses image recognition to identify products on store shelves, then lets people sort those products by attributes such as price and nutrition information. A customer could select only gluten-free products, pick food that's from nearby, or filter electronic gadgets by operating system.
