This project explores the use of mobile augmented reality technologies during the visit to an archeological route of the 14th century. The video displays the prototype developed during the first phase of the project that has been designed to work in any Android device.
The application shows the visitor a fully animated 3D avatar that explains all about sights. The overlaying of virtual elements is performed using Natural Feature Tracking techniques that enable a seamless integration with the real environment.
Tic Tac's Augmented Reality campaign on Cemusa Bus Shelters in New York City allowed consumers to interact with a paper poster on their mobile smartphones and tablet devices.
This video showcases the application of our latest algorithm (published in CVPR 2012) for synthetic poster insertion into a video stream. Our algorithm detects multiple homographies (roughly, planar structures) given a set of point matches across two frames in the video, which allows us to establish the proper geometry for photo-realistic insertion of synthetic posters.
A major advantage of our approach is the ability of automatically decide the appropriate number of available planar structures, and the high efficiency of the algorithm (less than 1s per frame).

Google introduced its augmented reality glasses Project Glass to developers in San Francisco this week. The glasses can connect to a smartphone using Wifi or Bluetooth. They can also utilise a 3G or 4G connection and can also connect to 'the cloud'. Voice commands can be used to send and share content with 'friends'. Location tracking ability can be used to plan routes and find destinations. The real-time connection to the Internet will likely have a significant impact on the habits and behavior of users. Leovation was part of the 2012 Retail Asia Expo in Hong Kong in early June. It gave us a chance to show some new interactive experiences we've created in the Leovation Lab, to a large audience over the course of 3 days.
Combining physical, social and mobile media through Augmented Reality, Dreamoc Holographic presentations, touch screen / multi-touch table, and motion tracking systems, our guests were a part of many new and radical experiences. The feedback we received from the event organizers and guests was as much as an exciting experience for us as our creations were for them - amazing!
