(via YouTube)3D danceperformance on pianomusic composed bij Friendrich Nietzsche, Lisette Huizenga, 2011
Denkend Dansen (Thinking Dancing)
Denkend Dansen has been specially created for the artproject "Nietzsche... nur Narr! nur Dichter!".
Lisette Huizenga used for this piece Motion capture with help of the Microsoft Kinect which has given her the possibility to transform human movements into avatars.
Jozefien Debaillie is the real professional dancer who has cooperated into this project. The avatar's movements are actually hers.
Lisette Huizenga invites the viewer into her own world. The process from idea/illusion into something visible is her great challenge. By playing with new techniques she tries to manifistate her ideas into reality.
In "Dansend Denken" she shows that 3D animation techniques (in combination wit augmented reality) can take a part into danceperformance of the future. Even a dancer will be 'automated'.
Nietzsche's piano piece is played by Simon Marlow.

We're very excited to reveal the first details about this year's insideAR: In the Expo area visitors can participate in "A day with AR" featuring live demonstrations from metaio, AR business professionals and partners. See and experience all of the day-to-day AR scenarios being used right now and which will be created in the future. The mandatory technology for the next steps in AR will be presented by a joint demo from ARM and metaio which will demonstrate the groundbreaking Augmented Reality capabilities on the ARM Mali GPU family including complex, highly realistic modeling (i.e. shaders) combined with a 3D tracking approach. ST-Ericsson will present and demonstrate the AR capabilities of its U8500 smart phone platform. Furthermore, Sony will present a HMD prototype with the world's highest see-through transmittance.
On the AR software side metaio will give a first insight into the upcoming Unifeye Suite and the new capabilities and possibilities arising with the Unifeye Mobile SDK roadmap. Last but not least, we can share more information about the first, confirmed top speakers sharing their insights and experiences with you.

Users of the iPad 2 or iPhone 4 can access SightSpace 3D’s Augmented Reality capabilities, which overlay digital models over existing physical environments, bringing models to life.
“With SightSpace 3D, mobile users and their clients can actually see projects prior to construction without having to perform complicated rendering manipulations,” commented Dr. Errin T. Weller, president, Limitless Computing Inc. “Existing environments, like landscapes and trees, can be easily incorporated into the view, in real time. SightSpace 3D can also be utilized by interior designers to view furniture, art, flooring, and other components long before building begins.”

(via http://www.samswritingblog.com/2011/08/oggboard-project.html)Just a little side project I have been working on. Hopefully we will soon gain funding and make the OggBoard a reality.
Imagine a fantasy battle taking place on your kitchen table. Even better yet, imagine that you are in total control of this battle. You can see it from any angle, you tell the soldiers where to go, you watch them engage in hand to hand combat and use magical spells against one another.Sound a little unbelievable or like something from the future?Using augmented reality technology along with a few iPhones or iPod touches, the OggBoard makes this scenario a reality. Essentially, the OggBoard, combines the best of board and strategy games (chess, Dungeons and Dragons, Mage Knights, Risk…) with the graphics and interactivity of computer and console gaming. It isn’t holographics, but it is the stepping stone to holographic gaming and it is possible today. The OggBoard really is the next generation in board gaming.

A camera and screen positioned in front of a customer superimposes virtual outfits onto a shopper’s body. Hand gestures allow a user to choose different items and select clothing colors to display. Recommendations are also offered, suggesting new lines or accessories to accompany outfits being viewed. Beyond retail solutions, this system has the potential to offer an ‘in-store shopping’ experience to the disabled and those in remote locations. via PSFK:
(via & more YouTube)We present KinectFusion, a system that takes live depth data from a moving depth camera and in real-time creates high-quality 3D models. The system allows the user to scan a whole room and its contents within seconds. As the space is explored, new views of the scene and objects are revealed and these are fused into a single 3D model. The system continually tracks the 6DOF pose of the camera and rapidly builds a volumetric representation of arbitrary scenes.
