Working with a team of scientists and software engineers Gravity Jack, Inc. has developed new ultrasound augmented reality technology for imaging a developing fetus. The most amazing part about this technology is the non invasive nature. Using augmented reality, ultrasonic sound frequencies, resonance imaging and other proprietary techniques; anyone can, from the comfort of their own home using their iPhone see in 3d their new family MEMBER.
Put this together as an internal company joke but thought we would share it with the world

When I want to use my Nexus One heavily, I typically prefer Wi-Fi. It’s not a tough decision — if a network is available. I do appreciate T-Mobile’s quality 3G speeds, but if I’m in for some serious web work, whether that be browsing or apps, Wi-Fi will obviously provide me with a better signal. When on the road, though, finding a hotspot can be an issue. Sometimes I’ll see open networks, but it won’t have a strong signal. Where’s it coming from? If I only knew, I could move closer an take advantage. That’s what the Lookator app attempts to tell me.
via & morePlease Empty your Pockets is an installation that consists of a conveyor belt with a computerized scanner that records and accumulates everything that passes under it. The public may place any small item on the conveyor belt, for example keys, ID cards, wallets, worry beads, condoms, notepads, phones, coins, dolls, credit cards, etc. Once they pass under the scanner, the objects reappear on the other side of the conveyor belt beside projected objects from the memory of the installation. As a real item is removed from the conveyor belt, it leaves behind a projected image of itself, which is then used to accompany future objects. The piece remembers up to 600,000 objects which are displayed beside new ones that are added to the installation. The piece intends to blend presence and absence using traditional techniques of augmented reality, such as those described by Adolfo Bioy Casares' 1940 novel "La Invención de Morel".

A new Apple patent wants to bring augmented reality games to iOS devices, iOS 4.2 is ready to rollout with all new text tones, and Steve wants you to "buckle up" for all new products.
The Washington Project for the Arts holds an annual curated show of new work by contemporary Washington artists. The show celebrates with work displayed across three floors of a large corporate gallery space. For the 2nd year in a row, MRB created an art piece to promote the show. This project combined live action with photo realistic composited effects to create a video piece that acknowledges art movements in painting, photography, sculpture and installation. The slowly evolving, four-minute piece is designed as an e-mail promotion, a sharable web film, an augmented reality experience and an on-site installation. The link below brings up a selection of production stills that lend some insight on how the piece was achieved.
