DOORS, between reality and virtuality from THÉORIZ on Vimeo.
"If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear to man as it is, infinite." - William Blake
Doors is an ongoing research work from our R&D department.
Between reality and virtuality, we are playing with the feeling of perception and infinite space. In this setup we had a real time anamorphic custom software computing the perspective of the nearest person. Through a 4 channel immersive and 3D spatialized sound, people could experience and discover virtual audioreactive landscapes by simply moving in space.

Invisible Museum from Nexus on Vimeo.
Nexus Interactive Arts has created the Invisible Museum for Qualcomm at CES in Las Vegas, featuring a series of exhibits that come to life using Augmented Reality (AR) technologies.
The Invisible Museum installation uses AR to reveal a digitally augmented 3D world that is symbolic of Qualcomm technology, which is often invisible to the naked eye.
When visitors enter the bespoke designed museum, 6 striking white exhibits are displayed on plinths against a completely white background; the Invisible Museum.
Each plinth comes to life when a visitor simply points a mobile device at the piece of art work, immersing visitors in a series of whimsical and colourful animated 3D worlds – a complete contrast to the white space of the real world installation.
To explore the technologies in more depth the digital augmentation includes hotspots, which reveal further information on the work Qualcomm does.
The exhibition runs through-out CES and then will be touring across the US and Europe.

Every Child Is An Artist: Digital Arts from Mercurial Dance on Vimeo.
Every Child Is An Artist is a new project created by Mercurial Dance, which aims to develop the skills, ability and imagination of all the children at Oasis Academy Hobmoor.
Each term we explore different media with the children and different ways to express the themes as we work towards creating a new exhibition, performance or event which we will share with their family, friends and the wider community. The project is delivered by Mercurial’s team of artists, who make and present work professionally; we are experienced in communicating our arts practice in educational settings and this is what enables us to really stretch the children’s imagination and ability.
The autumn terms theme is Digital, and we are we are creating an Augmented Reality (AR) 3D game, animations, coding and creating drawing robots using LittleBits and Makey Makey technology. We are exploring future and fantasy cities, as we reflect on what it is to grow up in Yardley. AR allows us to add layers of video, images, 3D models and more to the world around us and view it through an ipad app. In our exhibition at the end of this term, friends and family will be able to explore the virtual cities the children create, new inventions and animations by finding and scanning an AR markers across the school.
With a three year ambition to Every Child Is An Artist, the autumn term is just the beginning. In the spring term the focus is on visual arts and in the summer term, performing arts. As the children progress through the years they will engage and explore what it is to think and work like an artist, to develop their resilience, creative thinking and problem solving. We are using Arts Awards, Discover and Explore to champion and guide the children achievements through the project.
Mercurial Dance developed Every Child Is An Artist with Oasis Academy Hobmoor and the significance and impact of our creative journey with the pupils can be followed on the school blog www.oasishobmoorblogs.co.uk.

Daniel Leighton graduated Cum Laude from UC Berkeley with a BFA in filmmaking. After graduating he worked with CNET, Intel, Sun Microsystems, Women in Technology International, and Paramount Pictures for his coding work. Leighton’s films have been shown at the UC Theater in Berkeley, the UC Berkeley Art Museum, MoveOn.org and The Pacific Film Archive.

Daniel's art combines his four primary areas of study: art, technology, film and the human condition. He uses technology to create art that delves into the deepest parts of the human psyche. In 2014, he coded his own Augmented Reality app to interact with his paintings, making the technology an integral part of going deep into human connection.

Being faced with his mortality since childhood because of Crohn’s Disease, the workings of his physical and emotional states have become revered roadmaps as he engages in a feedback loop of reaction between body, heart and image while creating his work.
Selected quotes:
“Fascinating” Joseph Thompson, Mass MOCA
"Daniel Leighton is a modern day Kahlo” Sarah Elise Abramson, Culture Magazine
“Daniel's brilliant use of digital platforms is simply formed and complete — personal and social commentary that illuminates his vision. Moreover, his works have been selected by key curators (including Getty Director Timothy Potts) for a series of highly competitive LAAA exhibitions.” Peter Mays, Executive Director, Los Angeles Art Association (LAAA)/Gallery 825
"Every time I look at Daniel Leighton's paintings, I gasp. I'm discomfited. I'm thrown off my center, right smack dab into the middle of the human condition whether I like it or not. And every time I have the same thought: "Now that is art. I am moved to my core.'" - Marianne Williamson, Best-Selling Author
Siemens Home Appliances - Brand Identity Film: Making Of from mocomatics on Vimeo.
In December 2014 Artificial Rome teamed up with Heimat Hamburg and giraffentoast to bring to life the interactive brand identity film for Siemens Home Appliances. A spatial installation with a theatrical stage utilising the latest anamorphic 3d mapping technology and a clever camera tracking system, that could transform into very believable ever changing worlds, visible only for one spectator: The camera. It was quite important that this vast amount of technology in use would be there to serve the user, instead of having him follow the technology, ensuring that the concept aligned with the core philosophy of Siemens Home Appliances, that building a product should make the life easier and free time for the important things in life. The result is an innovative and experimental brand identity film showcasing technological excellence, staying true to the idea that the medium is the message.
